The virtual world is getting harsh, with cyber-bullying

The launch by YouTube of a site where users can raise concerns about cyber-bulling puts in to sharp focus the reality of teh virtual worlds we create. While the YouTube initiative illustrates the nature and extent of personal abuse by internet or phone-text, it should not detract from awareness that traditional non-physical abuse is also widespread and hurtful. The old saw “sticks and stones …” is just wrong … words DO hurt.

YouTube set up a site where youngsters can post their own videos and messages. The first online anti-bullying channel has been launched to encourage young people to denounce the intimidation. It follows growing concern about the increase in persecution by e-mail, mobile phone and on social networking sites, known as cyberbullying. Here’s the video with celebrities against bullying.
