The UN finally agreed that Palestine exists.
It has always seemed strange that people had a country taken from them so that immigrants could move in. That has been somewhat rectified by at last admitting that Palestine exists, and so therefore do Palestinians.
Let us hope that this is a step towards living together in the middle east and putting religion behind ethics, morality and justice.
BBC: Palestinians win upgraded UN status by wide margin
The UN assembly voted 138-9 in favour, with 41 nations abstaining.
The Palestinians can now take part in UN debates and potentially join bodies like the International Criminal Court.
But the important voices in the vote are still singing a biased tune. “No” votes by the US and Canada and abstentions from UK, Germany and Australia indicate that there remains disingenuity in the diplomacy of these powerful economies. That’s not good for the world.
