Current data shows that China and Asian countries are investing more in green energy than the US and Europe. In fact China is investing nearly twice as much as the US and so is Europe. This is as it should be. Economic and political power is shifting East and that is good for humanity. It will balance global economics and politics and it will enhance a more compassionate society. The cultures of Asia are more mature, more social, more family oriented that those of Asia and the West. And if you buy into the idea of a cosmic rhythm, this follows the predictions of the Mayan calendar.
On a practical note, the failure of the US to invest in green will be its greatest failure. As even the IEA admits to peak oil (and even optimistic projections show a levelling of production against growing energy demand) the cornerstone of America’s economic and geopolitical strategy for the past century is being undermined. You do not have to be Amory Lovins to realise that the opportunity for the US to establish itself as a winner in the new order is being washed away by self-interest and short-sightedness.
