Don’t forget to breathe!

It might sound like a strange suggestion, but in this age we have become so disconnected from nature that it is sometimes necessary to remind ourselves how to live, even at the most basic level.

A report linked here tells us how children with a sedentary lifestyle are more likely to develop asthma and generally be more unhealthy.  This problem becomes exacerbated in adulthood.  So living a little faster – run for the bus – is likely to make you happier.

And don’t forget the benefits of regular deep breathing, as in meditation.  When you want to calm down, de-stress or focus on a problem, take a dozen or more deep, regular breaths.  This action regulates your heart beat, which then improves the flow of blood to your fore-brain, the thinking part of your brain, rather than your hind brain, the primitive part of your brain.
