The problems of the world are underpinned by an excesisve population of humans. The exponential growth in human population has been driven by the oil age which has fuelled food and healthcare. The consequence is that the footprint of humanity is too great for the biosphere. The carrying capacity of the earth has been exceeded. Natural systems are breaking down from weather and climate to food and water; species loss is accelerating.
The world’s population can be reduced by reducing the number of children we have. But this is not always easy. Some of us realise the responsibility and change to our lives that children will cause. Others just follow the call of nature.
