Body and mind are one : DNA = IT

The headline drew my attention: DNA ‘organises itself’ on silicon. The idea that genetic material is now being used in computing hardware is exciting. It illustrates the direct connection between the elements of existence and the analogue complexity of life.

It seems almost natural that IT design must seek answers and solutions in biology. Future directions in computing is a comprehensible discussion of the recent integration of DNA into IT and the expanding understanding of the interdependence of physics and biology.

The original objectives of accelerating computing is appropriate. It is unlikely that a cyborg is imminent, though when that milestone is reached let’s hope it is not a Terminator type accident. Meanwhile, biomimicry is proving to be worthwhile design approach.
