Nuclear meltdown in your back yard.

This is not funny nor trivial.  Nuclear reactions are highly toxic.  The failure to clean up the reactor in Japan is leaving us open to a far greater spread of nuclear fallout.

I had forgotten about the whole tragedy.  A warning in my inbox this morning changed my day.

It has always been known that nuclear energy is highly risky and unproven economically.  I would say the life cycle economics have a negative net present value.  Then recently some super greens like James Lovelock started to say that without nuclear energy growth we will suffer anarchy or the planet will die or both.

There is a third alternative.  The alternative is attractive.  But no one finds it easy to commit or follow through the the behaviour change:

The Japanese reactor must receive immediate attention.

We must consume less.

And tip planet management from command and control to nurture and liberate.

From greed and fear to love and sharing.
