The king has taken off his clothes in the UK

The UK administration has made a politically dangerous and unusual admission: the economy is in a bad situation. Making analogy with the children’s story of The King’s New Clothes, this is equivalent to a courtier saying that those fancy new clothes that we’ve all been admiring aren’t really there.

The language of the UK Chancellor (head of the Treasury) was direct. Guardian report Storm Warning here. BBC report Darling Warns of Economic Crisis here. FT Report Worst crisis for 60 years, says UK chancellor here.

Its a good start. But others need to make the same exclamation. And we need to decide who (or maybe what) the king is. So that we can rehabilitate the deluded monarch.

That will require the adoring public to change behaviour. To start taking personal responsibility. Even if it’s difficult or painful.
